A Wilhelm Scream releases ‘GIMMETHESHAKES’
Massachusetts-based punk band A Wilhelm Scream are delighted to present the music video for “GIMMETHESHAKES,” the final song from the Thursday, April 14 release of the band’s first full-length album in nine years, Lose Your Delusion (pre-order ).
Another anthemic, high-fisted ripper from the band’s upcoming album, “GIMMETHESHAKES” is about the inconsiderate, self-absorbed people in modern society that we are sadly forced to deal with on a daily basis.
Guitarist/singer Trevor Reilly had the following to share about the video: “Once in a while, a rock video comes across as a violent, subtle whisper, testing the limits of what’s possible in this life, which s desperately stretches to the strands of fabric of what it really means to be human…and what is…life? The fragility, the perseverance, the triumph and the madness of existence. It brings us to tears in reverence for greatness. This is not one of those videos.”
A body of work that brings together diverse styles woven together into what the band aptly calls “A Wilhelm Sampler”, Lose Your Delusion, A Wilhelm Scream’s first feature in nine years, finds the accomplished rock quintet at its the most daring and experimental and cohesive level.
Recorded at Anchor End Studio in New Bedford, MA and produced by guitarist/vocalist Trevor Reilly and James Whitten, the songs of Lose Your Delusion appeared like a mirage for the band for several years during times when members of A Wilhelm Scream – Nuno Pereira (vocals), Trevor Reilly (guitar, vocals), Jason Milbank (guitar), Brian Robinson (bass, vocals) and Nick Angelini (drums) – privately went through a slow and difficult time of uncertainty.
This period, however, upped the ante and renewed a strong focus felt in the band’s early days, which centered on connecting with fans on an emotional level and the strength of those who found it in the music.
After all these years, A Wilhelm Scream lived his life and did whatever it took to get to the point where he could put together and write the songs that absolutely needed to be written. Every song on Lose Your Delusion is the product of never cutting corners at any time, whether with writing, recording, practicing, or performing. Providing commentary on the past few years and the aftermath of our collective stress, anxiety, frustration and panic, the album serves as a pillar of the band’s rich and evolving legacy.
“This is our most serious album to date,” Reilly said. “It’s our fifth full album and it feels like our first in that we feel we have so much more to say and energy to put out into the world.”
A Wilhelm Scream will make the following North American appearances in 2022 with support from Brendan Kelly, MakeWar, Comeback Kid and Cancer Bats on select dates. Dates below.
