Another Banner Year for Aftershock – Merced County Times

The The West Coast’s biggest rock festival, Aftershock, got even bigger for its 10e anniversary year outfit October 6-9 at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California. A total of 160,000 music fans gathered for the four-day event which featured non-stop music from over 90 bands, some of the best food and drink the world has ever seen. Sacramento has to offer, as well as various sponsor activations and experiences. The popular event brings $30 million in economic impact to the region each year, says Visit Sacramento.
Replicas memorable musical performances included landmark performances by the chart-topping metal act Noose(Thursday), who played their brand new album The end so far; rock icons EMBRACE (Friday) in one of their last shows in Northern California during the End Of The Road World Tour; My Chemical Romance (Saturday) as part of their planned reunion tour; and the British rock giants Muse (Sunday), heralded as one of the best live bands in the world.

To mark the occasion, they teamed up with the UC Davis Marching Band for a voluminous performance of the hit single “Born for Greatness,” and welcomed guest Jason Aalon Butler (Fever 333) for a collaboration on “Swerve”. Another memorable moment was when guitarist jerry horton brought in his bassist daughter Emilia for a special “Scars” instrumental intro. Singer Jacoby Shaddix took the opportunity to talk about supporting the future of music, a sentiment echoed earlier today when Replicas official host José “Metal Ambassador” Mangin presented his daughter Maya on stage before Halestorm together, sharing that Maya was inspired to start her own group by the hitmakers of “I Miss The Misery.”
Jacoby Shaddix also made a few appearances throughout the weekend, during Nothing more put on the song “Don’t Stop” and also with Ice Nine Kills for “Hip To Be Scared”.
There was also a moving tribute to Foo Fighters, who previously had to play replicaby LA ska-punk act The switches which covered the Foos’ hit “Times Like These.”
