Whether evoking innocence and hope in ‘Girl with Balloon’ or unleashing political viewpoints in the policeman-themed ‘Flying Copper’, Banksy’s imaginative imprint is fundamentally thought-provoking. Coming from the graffiti and street art scene of Bristol, England in the 1990s, Banksy is cynical, charming and controversial, making him an appealing pop culture icon to the masses.
“This exhibit feels like a beehive at times,” Reyes explained. “I watch strangers talk or cry or take action. I watch others get angry and I want to make sure this planet is more livable for our children. Banksy talks about it all in his true, punk way rock, sarcastic, dark and humorous. There are pieces that everyone can relate to, including some that can be (considered) a wake-up call.
