CM Punk Says He’s Very Impressed With Powerhouse Hobbs, Talks About The Art Of Selling, Safety Who Dislikes His Diving Routine On Stage

AEW superstar CM Punk recently appeared on the AEW unlimited podcast to discuss work with Team Taz member Powerhouse Hobbs, an emerging talent who Punk says impresses him a bit. During the interview, the Chicago Savior also discusses his stage dives he has taken since returning to wrestling in August. The highlights can be found below.

Why he wanted to work with Powerhouse Hobbs:

We’re going to pull the curtain back here a little bit, that’s what it is. I think I have to show off a very – just different look, right? I haven’t dreamed in my wildest imagination that I could be such a fat babyface so to speak. But it’s pretty crazy and I think we have to ride the wave and I never liked baby-baby matches. I always felt like someone needed to be a bit of a heel and I didn’t have any of that. With Will Hobbs, I have a guy who is going to put my cock in the mud and I am going to be able to sell. I just hope there are kids in the back watching who go, ‘Oh wow. It’s cool to sell ‘, you know? Because I just think of Ricky Steamboat, one of the all-time bestsellers and just like it – it was an art and I was really trying to do simplistic stuff and make the most of very little and I was impressed with Will Hobbs. You know the way he moves and I think everyone can see he has potential, you know?

By making his signature scene plunges into the crowd:

Yeah, they told me about it [jumping into the crowd]. They bend over to try and tell me not to, but they also say, ‘Is this going to be something? Can’t we maybe? And I’m like, ‘Guys, I really – I don’t know. I’m just hanging out there ‘and the last time I did that in New Jersey there was a guy that was just like,’ I’m gonna catch you ‘and I was like,’ Okay. Let’s do it [dive]’, so I did. It’s the spur of the moment. It is really honest.
