Danny Ocean wants you to see his ‘darker’ side on new song ‘Istanbul’
Danny Ocean has stripped off the hat, let his hair grow long, and is sporting some leather in the viewer for his new single “Istanbul.” The track serves as a new taste of the “Darker Danny” he hopes to feature on his album. @Dannocean by Danny Oceanreleased on February 17. Rolling stone.

In the alt-trap song, a heartbroken ocean sings to a former love who left without warning – even after lying and sacrificing a lot for them asking, “¿Qué me faltó? ¿En que te falté? (In English: “What did I miss? What didn’t I do for you?”)
“He’s a new Danny,” says Ocean. “He’s a different Danny with his original essence. He’s a grown, darker Danny. The track serves up a slower, darker twist to her hit “Rehuso” and “Dembow” from her 2019 Caribbean-infused album. 54+1.
Preparing for his new record has been a difficult journey for the singer. “The process of this album was love and hate,” he admits. “It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to say, the stories I wanted to write, visually how I wanted to express myself.”
It is a change of 54+1, in which he rarely showed his own image and let the music speak for itself. “For this album, I wanted to show my face,” he says, adding that traveling and having conversations with people all over the world influenced his record. “It was a trick. I needed to live to write.
“Istanbul” follows punk-rock “Rubia sol morena” late last year and his collaboration with Leo Rizzi, “Amapolas”.
