Flametrick Subs Brings Hot Rockabilly To The Waco Show | Music

Satan’s cheerleaders won’t be dancing when Austin-based trio Flammetrick Subs start their show at Rogue Media Studios on Saturday night, but that won’t mean a drop in energy or craziness.
It comes with Flametrick Subs territory and as live entertainment begins to heat up after a year cooled by COVID-19 restrictions, the group is good to go. âEveryone is happy to come back and play,â said Jennifer O’Brien, the band’s stand-up drummer who slams her snare as Moriarti October.
She is joined by guitarist and vocalist Buster Crash (Mike Condon) and double bassist Lefty DeMarco (Kevin Rominger), who combine for a crisp rockabilly, sometimes psychobilly, always rock sound.
âThink of a B-side horror movie,â said O’Brien, a Hallsburg native who took over as drummer for the trio about five years ago.
The trio performed without the visual touch added by their go-go’ing cheerleaders for about a year and a half, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to watch between the lead singer. Buster, front drummer Moriarti and one-handed (literally) bassist Lefty. âWe think we’re doing a really good job,â said O’Brien.
Crash and then lead guitarist Clem Hoot formed Flametrick Subs in 1989 and visited Waco regularly throughout the 1990s, with several performances captured by the Texas Music Cafe. They opened for bands like The Cramps, Hank III, Rev. Horton Heat, X, The Supersuckers and Dale Watson.
