GRACE TIME, with Adam dutkiewicz and Jesse leach of SWITCH ENGAGEMENT, released his second album, “Songs of loss and separation”, via the group’s own label, Wicked Good Records, distributed by ADA in the world. A decade away from their first album “The hymn of a broken man “, it brings the emotionally charged intensity, artistic passion and heartfelt lyrics that fans have come to expect from GRACE TIME.
To celebrate the album’s reverence, the trio just shared the video for the fourth single, “Repair yourself”. It’s a hard-hitting song about love, loss – and ultimately – personal redemption. The video was produced by Nick hipa and was shot in the beautiful scenery of Joshua Tree, California.
“‘Fix yourself’ is to find oneself at a loss for words “, sharing Leach. âIt’s about struggling to come to terms with a disentanglement and collapse. It’s also about finding the will to carry on and staying true to your own heart, even when no one else seems to understand what you’re going through. C ‘is a song about the journey to find a way to heal wounds and, over time, find a deeper sense of self-love. “
Dutkiewicz, who produced “Songs of loss and separation” as well as the beginnings of the group, adds: “‘Fix yourself’ is one of my favorites because the lyrics can mean different things to different people – and I know they hit our drummer Dan at an important time in his life. “
Drummer Dan Glezak addresses this claim and the effect of the song on him, saying, âThis is probably the most emotionally charged song on the record for me. Adam sent me a mix and I felt that the instrumental section of the bridge could use a sample. I remembered a voice note that I sent to someone, which was recorded on my phone, and it matched perfectly Jessethe words of. At first I was afraid to use something so personal, but the guys liked it, so it stuck. It’s still very hard for me to hear this song but it’s one of my favorites. “
A handful of years in the making, “Songs of loss and separation” mixes tough wrestling confessions with narrative storytelling. The music is equally expansive, with Adam manage the lead vocals on multiple songs and Jesse experimenting with a lower vocal range reminiscent of post-punk and goth.
Speaking to Australia Heavy on the musical direction of the new GRACE TIME Songs, Adam said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “This is probably not what IMMOBILIZER the fans are waiting. It’s a different sound than anything we’ve done before. So it’s not metal all the way. Sorry, everyone. It really is a labor of love. Obviously this is our side project, me and Jesse, and we can only work on it when we have free time to do so. And now that Jesseis the lead singer for both bands, we decided to take him in a little different direction. There are a lot more rock and roll jams, so don’t expect blazing death metal everywhere. “
When asked if there were any specific goals that he and Jesse aimed to achieve with “Songs of loss and separation”, Adam said: âThere weren’t really any set goals, other than trying to create something that we liked. We wanted something different, obviously, like I said. We didn’t want it to look like IMMOBILIZER. We wanted to show maybe even a more personal, darker side of who we are. We wanted to make songs more out of painful things in our lives – almost like a cathartic thing for us to do. So, yeah, it’s definitely a lot different. While IMMOBILIZER is a lot about the more positive and hopeful light, it’s a lot of darkness and just hard stuff to go through. “
GRACE TIMEthe first album of, “The Anthem of a Broken Man”, arrived in 2011, almost a decade later Leachthe exit of SWITCH ENGAGEMENT, the pivotal group of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal that the duo co-founded with friends in 1999. The first music of GRACE TIME materialized during DutkiewiczThe arduous recovery from an almost crippling back operation. A collection of songs that the multi-instrumentalist and producer knew would suit his old and future bandmate. The acclaimed debut album by BBC Music, Aquarius and Rock sound. He purposely turned expectations upside down, with shoegaze and ambiance flourishes in his songs.
