For their 100th release, longtime noise-punk label Three One G – which is run by Justin Pearson of fame Locust and Dead Cross – has an insane tribute compilation in the pipeline, featuring a who’s who of troublemakers underground. Well titled Really bad music for really bad people, the album salutes psychobilly pioneers the Cramps and sees everyone from Mike Patton and Chelsea Wolfe to METZ (whose contribution we premiered in February) and Pearson’s own group Retox covering tracks chosen by Lux Interior, Poison Ivy and Co. Today (April 1), noise-rock-hunters Girls offered their piece of the puzzle, a particularly sinister version of “What’s Inside a Girl.” Listen to it – and check out the cover art and full track list of Really bad music for really bad people – below.
âWe knew whatever song we chose to cover that we could never create an alternate version to replace the original,â commented Daughters’ Alexis Marshall. “We can only hope that our cover of ‘What’s Inside a Girl’ does the Cramps and their unmistakable embodiment of rock & roll justice.”
Really bad music for really bad people will be released digitally as well as on limited edition vinyl on May 1, but it’s available for pre-order now. The composition was mastered by Brent Asbury at Measurable Harm and features a layout and design by Black Moon Design. Discover the cover art and the list of tracks below.
