City Weezle – N ° 2
City Weezle
City Weezle
ASHEVILLE, North Carolina, USA, Aug 2, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – City Weezle are a fusion rock band that merges elements of different styles and influences, but marks their distinctly unique fusion mark with a punk rock swing, a groove backbone at its core. The self-proclaimed influences of the group are Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Primus, King Crimson, The Melvins, Frank Zappa …
âNo.2â is City Weezle’s latest offering after a long hiatus due to its disbandment in 2010. It’s the result of years of work! The album was written and recorded in various beautiful and precarious places, from the backwaters of Ireland to the metropolises of France and Japan over a period of 4 years.
City Weezle was founded in Paris in 2005 by Irish potato lover Simon Fleury. After performing two demos, âCity Weezleâ (in 2006) and âThe Leprechaunâ (in 2008), City Weezle has become a prominent member of the European underground fusion scene. They have made several tours in Europe, sharing the stage with artists such as Watcha, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. They also became good friends and collaborated with big underground groups such as Igorrr (who produced the group’s two LPs), Vladimir Bozar, Pryapisme and Clurichaun. After the release of their first album, drummer Ai Uchida had to return to Japan.
Unable to find anyone to replace him, City Weezle was on indefinite hiatus but released “Lysergik Tea Party” in 2012 to let people know the group would be back. In 2013 and the following years, Simon met the pianist and composer CSL Parker, who supervised him in experimental free-form improvisation. Under his guidance, Simon will reform the group, reconnecting with drummer Ai Uchida and bassist Kengo Mochizuki. Ai flew from Japan to write and record drums over a two-week period in a small chalet in Ireland.
Over the following years, instrumentation and vocals will be written and recorded in “various beautiful and precarious places” across Ireland, France and Japan, culminating in their final effort and their second LP titled “No. 2 “
The recordings include many Guests and the musical palette of the group is diversified on this album integrating Piano, Organ, Harpsichord, String arrangements, etc. 2 “is a less chaotic sounding album that moves away from Taboo’s Primus and Bungle influenced sound, opening up new directions for the band who will strive to keep things original, fun and interesting for the listener’s pleasure. The group is now promoting “No. 2” gearing up for a post Covid return to the scene.
City Weezle’s two albums “Taboo” and “No.2” were co-produced with legendary breakcore artist “Igorrr”.
