This release day will really be something special for Rise Against as the group is being greeted in their hometown of Chicago with “Rise Against Day” this next Friday (June 4th). Ahead of the special day and the release of the new album, the band also released their latest song, âTalking to Ourselves,â which can be heard below.
The group’s ninth studio album, Generation nowhere, is expected to drop out this Friday, June 4 and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has proclaimed it âRise Against Dayâ in Chicago. The Windy City is where the band formed in 1999 and two of the members still reside in Chicago all those years later.
To mark the occasion, Rise Against will resume Reckless Records at Wicker Park at 5 p.m. CT for a special in-store appearance. Fifty lucky fans who purchase a copy of the new album will have the chance to return and witness Tim McIlrath’s acoustic solo set at the store. After the performance, the band will sign copies of the album for all participants.
As noted, Rise Against is giving fans a taste of the new music ahead of the album’s release this Friday, with âTalking to Ourselvesâ just arriving. âI never thought our songs were ‘brave’ or ‘daring,’ said McIlrath,â I consider them to be common sense. When you feel like no one is listening to you, you tend to speak louder and when you feel like no one is noticing you, you start doing things to get their attention. That’s what this song is about. »If you like the song, it is available for streaming here.
With the new album set for release and a party day planned in Chicago this Friday, the next big thing for the band is a return to the concert stage. The group recently announced a late summer release and all dates and ticketing information can be found at their website.
