Big names from the Punk/New Wave/Mod/Two-Tone era have been announced for next year’s Stone Valley South festival.
The dust has only just settled on the fourth edition of the event this year, with The Stranglers and Stiff Little Fingers headlining at Hillside Farm, Pepper Hill in Great Amwell, near Ware, Hertfordshire.
But organizers moved quickly to announce their first round of names for next year’s two-day festival, which takes place on Friday May 26 and Saturday May 27.
And tickets are on sale, too – those who get in early are eligible to take advantage of a generous early bird offer.
Punk fans will be delighted to see The Skids – whose hits include Into The Valley, Masquerade and Circus Games – and The Undertones – responsible for classics such as Teenage Kicks, Jimmy Jimmy and My Perfect Cousin – on the bill.
Toyah, who emerged from the punk scene to have a string of hits including It’s a Mystery, Thunder In the Mountains and I Want To Be Free, also appears.
Ska fans are catered for with Bad Manners, led by Buster Bloodvessel; Neville Staple, formerly of the Specials and the Fun Boy Three; and Three Minute Hero hitmakers The Selecter.
A popular event with Mods, one of the highlights of Stone Valley South 2023 will likely be the appearance of From The Jam, featuring The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton and a set packed with the trio’s greatest songs from a stellar career.
Secret Affair, which hit the charts with Time for Action, was also included in the lineup.
The Wedding Present, Sleeper and The Primitives are also among the other acts revealed this week.
As usual, the organizers are again highlighting emerging alternative groups.
And those that particularly catch the eye are The Bar Stool Preachers, whose fresh punk and ska sound always makes for a stunning set, and Lancaster post-punks The Lovely Eggs, who have perfected a sound all their own.
IDestroy and Buster Shuffle are the first batch of names – and organizers have promised that many more, including major headliners, will be announced over the coming weeks.
Looking ahead to next year’s event, organizers told fans: “SVF South will have everything you loved this year – a large outdoor stage, live video screens, brilliant sound and lighting. , friendly staff and security, lots of space to dance, lots of commercial stalls, top DJs, drinks at very reasonable prices and a varied food offer with guaranteed value for money.
“Unlike your average festival, SVF won’t empty your wallet.”
And they added, “SVF South V will be the best SVF yet and as you’ve requested a lot, we’ve introduced new VIP Camping, Glamping and VIP Arena options.”
Popular with the scooter fraternity, the festival will once again feature a ride-out.
Earlybird weekend tickets are currently available for adults and under 16s, although they are likely to sell out quickly.
