Pre-order the remastered reissue of the limited edition Jeromes Dream ‘gifts’ white / pink splash vinyl.
Screamo pioneers Jerome dreamssecond and last pre-reunion album of Gifts has been remastered (by Jack Shirley) for its very first vinyl release, arriving this Friday (September 24) via Iodine Recordings, 20 years after the original Kurt Ballou recorded classic was released. We have a limited edition “White Denim” variant with white / pink splashes available in our store, and we’re also running a stream of the remastered album in this article. Here’s what bassist / singer Jeff Smith tells us about this reissue:
Gifts is a moment in time. It’s over in the blink of an eye. But there is an urgency that keeps you coming back time and time again because you feel like you’ve missed something. To this day, I find it hard to understand how we three Connecticut kids made such a strange and beautiful record. It reminds me of the magic that lives deep in the relationship that Erik [Ratensperger], Nickname [Antonopulous] and I have. It captures the essence of our youth and the bond that has isolated us. I’ve said a lot of things on this record recently, but today I just want to make sure I remember the security and vulnerability that we felt when we got behind our instruments to create this thing.
I am really happy that we are teaming up with Iodine Recordings to bring this record back to life and give it new meaning. Whether you were there then, discovered it in the years after our hiatus, or whether it’s your first listen, this new remastered version with reimagined artwork really makes us feel like a new disc. And while not without its flaws, the record, again, is, for me, a perfect snapshot of an era that ushered in a new kind of global darkness as we did our best to navigate the world. difficulty of our very early twenties.
Listen for yourself below and take the white / pink splash variant, limited to 200.
