Carlos Santana has canceled his next Las Vegas residency after undergoing unspecified heart surgery over the holiday weekend.
âLast Saturday I had an incident where I asked my wife Cindy to take me to the hospital because I had this thing going on in my chest,â explained the guitar legend in a video statement, which can be viewed below. “So we went there [and] we found out we had to take care of it. So I am, and I’m going to take some time to make sure that I am rebuilding and resting and catching up on my health so that when I play for you, I play the way I usually do and give you 150 percent. I wouldn’t show up unless I could. “
Santana was scheduled to take the stage tonight (December 1) for the first of eight December shows at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. A press release notes that he “looks forward to returning” to the scene in January 2022.
After explaining that he posted the video to elucidate the ârumors circulating here and thereâ about his health, Santana conveyed his best wishes to his fans: âI hope you and your family are in good health, peace of mind and joy. I know I will. Thank you for being a fan, and your unity and your care. Peace. “
