Danish / American Rock and Rollers VOLBEAT released a new song called “To become”. The track is taken from the group’s eighth studio album, “Servant of the Spirit”, which is due on December 3 via Archives of the Republic. The Effort will be available as a standard CD, deluxe 2LP vinyl (in various limited edition variations), and deluxe digital edition.
For “Servant of the Spirit”, the group, which consists of Michael poulsen (guitars / vocals), Jon Larsen (drums), Rob caggiano (guitars) and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) took their heavy metal, psychobilly and punk ‘n’ roll signature to the next level while presenting Poulsenthe great capacity for songwriting and storytelling.
“I wrote the whole album in three months”, remembers Poulsen, “I was in good spirits and good spirits at home, and I had an audience captive to myself⦠There are a lot of VOLBEAT signatures in it. If you go back to the first album and compare it to where we are now, you can hear how the band developed their style, while still keeping the characteristic sound. “
When the album was first announced in September, the band released the “The blue of the shotgun” single, an anthemic track in which Poulsen explores the ghostly events he recently experienced when moving into a new home.
âEvery time you move into a house, you bring the dead with you,â he explained. “Strange things happen when I move into a [new] house⦠it’s very otherworldly. âWatch the video with the lyrics below.
The album also includes the “double barrel” of summer songs the band released last June: “Wait a minute girl” and “Dagen Fûr” (with Stine bramsen), the first of which became the band’s ninth number one single on the Billboard Mainstream rock graphic.
Other songs on the album weave intricate and compelling stories. “The Sacred Stones” tells the story of “an earthly being who enlisted in the dark side. He is on a mission, speaking to the darkest forces and fallen angels.” During this time, “The devil is raging” look at the idea of ââthe devil taking human form. Album opening “Temple of Ekur” returns to ancient themes explored in past songs such as “The gates of Babylon”, as the epic album draws closer “La Birgita de Lasse” explores the story of the first witch fires in Sweden in 1471.

Regarding the musical direction of the new VOLBEAT album and how the rest compare to recently released songs “Wait a minute girl” and “Dagen Fûr”, Michael say to germany Rock antenna: “It is the heaviest VOLBEAT registration to date. The two singles that are out now – I’m very, very proud of them; they’re pure rock songs – but they don’t really represent the rest of the material. There’s a good reason we’ve released these two songs now. It’s summer. People need light. They need positive energy. They need good vibes, a good mood. And I think those two songs have all of that stuff. “
Asked if the new VOLBEAT the songs are as heavy as “Evelyne”, which originally appeared on the band’s album in 2010 “Beyond Hell / Above Heaven”, Michael said: “There is definitely stuff as heavy as ‘Evelyne’ – no doubt about it. I wouldn’t say much more than that. But there is definitely stuff as heavy as ‘Evelyne’. And there are things that will take you back to the old days BLACK SABBATH with Ronnie james dio, early METALLIC, even some old ones DEATH inspiration old BOLT LAUNCHER inspiration. So some of those classic songs from old-school heavy bands. Of course, there is definitely some early ringing stuff CANDLE. So there is going to be a lot of thunder and lightning for the rest of the material. “
VOLBEAT has two decades of depth in a career that has seen them share scenes with genre legends like BLACK SABBATH, METALLIC, MOTÃRHEAD, NOOSE, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and more. They have accumulated nearly three billion cumulative streams during their career, landing a “Best metal performance” Grammy apply for “Room 24” (with King Diamond) of 2014 acclaimed (and gold seller) “Outlaw men and shady ladies”, and have won several Danish Music Awards. Not to rest on his laurels, his next album “Servant of the Spirit”, which was written and recorded during the shutdown and quarantine made necessary by the COVID-19 pandemic, is introspective but does not fire any punches and is no less noisy or driving than their previous efforts.
Since its creation in 2001, VOLBEAT rose from clubs in Copenhagen to landmark stages around the world, including the famous Telia Parken stadium in Denmark (becoming the only national artist to have sold the venue). Over the course of seven record-breaking albums, the band landed number one songs (including nine No. 1 on the US Mainstream Rock charts and count, the most number of bands based outside of North America), certifications multi-platinum, awards and honors all over the planet. Their latest album, “Flip, Play Again, Bounce”, was released in August 2019 and spawned the hit singles “Last day under the sun”, “Die to live” (with Neil fallon) and “Leviathan”. A live album containing songs recorded during the following world tour, “Rewind, Replay, Rebound: Live In Deutschland”, was released digitally in November 2020. More recently, they have contributed to a revival of “Don’t step on me” To “The Metallica Blacklist”, with all the benefits of the track benefiting METALLIC‘s Everything in my hands foundation and the Børne Cancer Fonden from Denmark.
